Okay so after some discussion with racers over the last couple months we have come to a final decision. Here are the 2017 rules for the FWU class. The Cliff notes of the FWU class is this. BASX body and aero rules, wheel rules as stated here. npwdrl.boards.net/thread/544/quick-wheel-change-post-2017 This class will be part of the MOTM overall point series.
Fat Wheels Unlimited class rules.
Car Body ( the wooden/material structure that holds the weight, axles and other add ons)/ Total Car Dimensions
Wheel Base : Any as long as wheels do not exceed the 7″ total length requirement
Total Car Height : Not to exceed 3″ inches…
Total Car Length : Not to exceed 7″ inches…
Total Car BODY Width : Not to exceed 1-3/4″ inches…
Total Car Weight : Not to exceed 5.0 ounces (+.04) or 143 grams even measured on 1/10th digital scale
Additional materials maybe added as long as they meet the rules
Wood must be used to construct your own body and/or frame
4 Axles & Wheels must be installed to the side of the car body directly across from one another / No more than a 10 degree angle
NO FENDERS, AERODYNAMIC MODIFICATIONS, you may use washers or body side plates as long as height or diam. is less than the size of the center hub diam. ONLY THE WHEELS AND AXLE CAN BE INSTALLED ON THE SIDES OF THE BODY OF THE CAR. Nothing can be installed on top or bottom of the car that would cover wheel openings. Both inner and outer of the wheel must be visible at all times with nothing obstructing the view.
Track Center Rail Height : 1/4″ inch ( 7mm ) *
Track Center Rail Width : 1 5/8″ inches (4.2 cm) *
* Wheels must clear the outside to outside center rail width measurement
Axles
a. Open

a. May be CnCed, lathed, polished and/or sanded to true the edge of tread, surface and circumference
b. All lettering must remain visible on the inside and outside of the wheel.
c. NO Wheel covers may be used
d. 7.5mm Minimum Tread Width
e. Wheels must weigh at least 1.5 grams and a wheel can be removed after the race to be weighed to confirm weight.
f. Bearings are allowed
The following Modifications are not allowed
a. Starting or finish line devices
b. Electronic or lighting devices
c. Glass or extremely fragile parts
d. Paint that is wet, smudges or extremely sticky
e. Sharp objects, sandpaper or abrasives on the bottom of car (We do not want any damage to the rubber stopping pads)
f. Axles and/or wheels attached to any device that mechanically or alters rotation and spin
g. Any part of the car to go beyond the starting peg (see photo below)
h. Propellants
