You can spend quite a bit of coin on a custom gate but it’s hard to beat a well tuned stock gate. How is your gate set up currently? Did you shim between the track and the hinge? Back down the opening spring tension? Add a memory foam bumper? Are you using an electric release? Did the Owens Mod?

What sort of issue are you looking to resolve?

From what you showed me, the spring tension is way too tight.
Adding a compression foam, like ear plugs, would help dampen the hit.

I never tried the Owens mod.

When I made my gates, I made them, I didn't buy stuff from China and put it together. Machining all the parts except the screws takes time, and as you know "time is money" I'm not looking for an argument from you, I am just telling you how it is/was.

I know of another guy on another forum, that advertised gates for sale. I don't think he ever sold one? I believe when the machine shop told him the price he quickly took the advertisement off his site as I believe he quickly found out there wasn't much profit to be made.

I know guys that have been using my gates for years with no maintenance other than keeping them clean. I wish I knew how many runs some of these guys have on them........it has to be in the thousands.

No one has to worry about the price of the gates, I have ceased making them. To all the guys that bought them and were/are happy with them, I thank you very much for the opportunity to help you reach your goals.

Where do you put the foam? Is there a certain location that works best? Thickness?

These gates are amazing! I'd say it was the best investment I've made for my track and tuning. I'll get the same time every run. Super consistent.

Mine wouldnt even fit on my track it was a hair too wide...i could only get bolts in one side...so dont even get me started and the whole piano wire is the worst idea i have ever seen...after about 20 hours of messing with it and i got a selinoid like chuy puts on his gates it finally worked good
