Here's my method that made my life easier. For those who still use pipe cleaners and worry about scratching the bore, this works like a charm.

A spray straw from a can of jig will work.
I chucked a straw up and sanded, tapered and polished the end and cut them down to size. They slip over the sharp end and stay put without disturbing the bore.

Before, when trying not to scratch the bore, it would at times make my hand tremor trying to be so careful. Now it is a breeze.

Great idea Corvid. I cover the wire end with shrink tubing. I know what you mean about shaking while trying to be so careful to not scratch the bore. This really helps.

I don’t use pipe cleaners either. I buff out the sealant in the wheel bores with a soft paper shop towel that is rolled to a point so it fits in the bore. I also use the paper shop towel on the hubs to buff them. I use Skippy’s tip of using a woman’s nylon stocking for a final buff to really shine everything up.

Darkhorse, what do you use in place of the fluffy pipe cleaners?

Great tip! The pipe cleaners do tend to shed small fibers. Looking forward to trying out your method.

For the off the wall chance any Royal Rangers builders ever happen to stumble upon this post you can use Derby Evolution swabs. Just remove the foam and slide it over the handle portion. Works like a charm to apply bore sealant and get in the bores and clean em out.
