Ok been getting a lot of questions about the Fat Wheels unlimited and BASX wheel rule change for 2017. Here's just a quick post on what we are planing for the 2017 season. A more in depth post coming soon.

Box Stock- no change
BASX AM and PRO- Fluting on side of wheel is no longer required. Minimum OD is 1.165. Still a 2.4gram weight requirement, 7.5mm width.
SS- no change
SP- no change
Eliminator- no change
Unlimited- no change
SR- no change
Fat wheels Unlimited- 7.5mm width, 1.5 gram minimum weight without bearings, no fluting required, all other wheel marking's are required.

I just weighed two bearings .24 -.25 grams/set

I personally think we just need to pull the wheels and and weigh the bearing and the wheel together. Let's say if the wheel has to weigh 1.6 grams with bearing .. then it needs to weigh at least 1.6 nothing under..

I suggest all vendors or racers who cut their own wheels, cut the Fat (BSA) bearing wheels to 1.5 g then with 2 bearings they should weight around 1.7-1.8 g. It is not easy to remove the bearing from the inner hub post installation as the step is removed. To simplify post race weight check inspection, these wheels should be weighed with bearings.
Take a set of 1.5 g wheels and install 3 of them with 6 ball bearings and another three with 7-ball bearings and take the average weight of each set to determine the weight limit consensus. What do you guys think?
