Below you will find Information and Rules regarding the BASX Am class in 2019. With this structure we hope to encourage new racers to jump into league racing anytime during the season. In the BASX Am class new racers will compete against racers with similar beginning skill levels. We also feel this structure promotes quicker movement from the BASX Am class to the BASX Pro class.
BASX Am Class Information:
1. BASX Am will be ran every month except May (Fun Race Month) and will follow the Standard Monthly Race Format. BASX Am will NOT have Series, just monthly stand alone races. Read about the Standard Monthly Race Format HERE.
2. At each race, the top 3 places will receive an award and the winner will receive an electronic badge in their signature.
3. Series points will NOT be kept for the BASX Am class, but as a BASX AM racer you will receive points in the BASX Pro class. Depending on when you race this can qualify you for the ICE and/or FIRE Series Finals and MOTM World Finals if you chose to move up to BASX Pro. Read about BASX Am points HERE. Read about moving to BASX Pro in the rules below, item #1.
4. There will not be a BASX Am point series champion in either the ICE or FIRE Series or a BASX Am NPWDRL Champion (race winner) in either the ICE or FIRE Series or at the MOTM World Finals. In other words, there will not be any BASX Am Champions in the tab to the right ---->.
5. There will not be a recorded/tracked BASX AM track record.
6. Sub2.9XX electronic badges will be awarded to BASX Am builders as they earn them.
BASX Am Class Rules:
1. If you have NO badge or a SUB 2.980 badge you may choose to race in the BASX Am class in 2018. During the season you may move from the BASX Am class to the BASX Pro class, but not from BASX Pro to BASX Am. Once you move to the BASX Pro class you have to stay there.
2. If you received your SUB 2.975 badge in 2018 or before then you must move into the BASX Pro class in 2019.
3. If you are in BASX Am and you receive your SUB 2.965 badge you may stay in BASX Am for the duration of the season (January through December).
4. If you are a seasoned/veteran racer that raced in other leagues then you should be in the BASX Pro class. There are some exceptions to this rule so if you have a question about whether you should be in Am or Pro just ask the Admin or a Moderator.
5. The spirit of the BASX Am class is for new(er) racers to get their "feet wet" and compete against like competition. This would mean that BASX Am racers sharpen their skills by building, prepping & tuning their cars themselves. You may be mentored, given advice, taught skills from a veteran racer, attend workshops, buy different vendor parts, try different secret preps and so on when you are in the BASX Am class.
6. You may NOT purchase already built & tuned cars and race them in the BASX Am class. This goes against the spirit of the competition.
7. As a BASX AM builder you MAY purchase already built & tuned cars and race them in the BASX Pro class, but you will only get BASX Pro ICE or FIRE Series points for one of your cars (either your BASX Am car or your BASX Pro car). If you chose to receive points for your BASX Pro car then you are moved to the BASX Pro class and cannot move back to BASX Am, you are now in BASX Pro (see item #1 above).
For 2018 if you are in RED in the below BASX SUB 2.975 list you may chose to race in the BASX AM class (but you don't have to), if you are in the BASX SUB 2.965 list or faster you must race in BASX Pro:
