Alright here we go!! I will miss or leave out something. If you see a error let me know.
First lets start with the MOTM point series classes. We'll go over rule or class changes in each class.
2018 MOTM point classes are.
BASX-
1.Wheel rule change for BASX, only current/new style BSA wheel molds allowed. You can not add any
material to the wheel. There is no minimum diameter, and wheels do not need to have tread bumps.
(rasied wheels apply to wheel rule)
2.BASX Am and Pro are scored together. Am racers points will pick up where the last place finishing
Pro finishes. BASX Am is a month to month race and will receive monthly trophies, but no point
standings of its own.
Street Stock- No change.
Street Pro- No change.
Eliminator- Slight change of min axle diameter. Rule change will now allow for .82 diameter axles.
Unlimited- No change.
Fat Wheels Unlimited- No change
The way the points will be awarded. 1st-100, 2nd-90, 3rd-85, 4th-82, 5th-80, 6th-79, 7th-78, ECT. You will have your lowest point dropped, one for each series. How to qualify for the MOTM world finals. The MOTM World Finals will be broken down into 4 round in each class. Here's how you qualify.
Race in round- These are the racer that have less than 50% of the points winner total. Only the winning car from this round will move to the quarter finals.
Quarter Finals- These are the racers with-in the top 50% of the points of the class winner, and the Race in round car. From this round the top four racers will move on to the semi-finals. Last racer to qualify from this round only move top car.
Semi-finals- The way you qualify for this round is win at least one monthly race, and be with-in 50% of the points leader. The top four builders will move to the Finals. Last racer to qualify only moves top car.
Finals- The winner of the Ice series and the winner of the Fire series qualify. They will meet the other 4 builders from the Semi's to determine the World Champion. (It is possible for one race to take both spots.)
MOTM Finals scoring- Scoring for the MOTM overall winner will break down like this. Only races that make is to the finals will receive points. 1-10, 2-7, 3-5, 4-4, 5-3, 6-2
Next, Monthly special classes. So just a little change this year. These are for monthly trophies, no point value. I am throwing around the idea that the top participation special class will replace the lowest performing MOTM class for the 2019 season. So here are your 5 special classes and when they will race for the 2018 season.
Box Stock- Every month this class will run. Rules are unchanged.
Governor Class- This will run ever other month and will start in January. Full rules will come shortly, basically the SS class with a max weight of 2.0 ounces.
Street Rod-- This will run ever other month and will start in January. Rules carried over from last year. Sorry no more Street Rod Pro.
BASX Mini- This will run ever other month and will start in Feb. Full rules coming soon, Just think of it as a 4inch BASX car.
Pure Stock- This will run ever other month and will start in Feb. Rules coming soon, basically any type of mass manufactured 2.4 gram wheel, scout wheel base. Still taking some more ideas.
Rookie of the year!! Oh where to start. I love the idea of Rookie of the year. There are some major draws backs to it though. I want to continue to recognize the top NEWB to the Sport/Hobby. How many races constitutes a racer to no longer be a Rookie? We want people to jump in and start racing as soon as they find us, whether that is in Jan, or Dec. For someone to wait till the new year to start to start racing is crazy to me. We want to capture people here when the fire is burning strong. Maybe we need to put more emphasis on the new racers overall contribution and support to the hobbies growth, not so much on track performance? Which brings us to our next topic.
BASX Am- Who races in BASX Am? Am is not only for rookies. For me I would say if you have placed in the top 3 in the BASX Am class and you are not a rookie, it's time to move up. As HurriCrane stated let your speed be your guide. BASX Am is designed for newer racers to get their feet wet and learn the system.
Hope this helps, Any comments or question post here or shoot me a PM. Thank you for your continued support.
