Mid America
Car Body (the wooden structure that holds the weight, axles and other add-ons)/ Total Car Dimensions
Wheel Base : Any as long as wheels do not exceed the 7″ total length requirement
Total Car Height : Not to exceed 3″ inches…
Total Car Length : Not to exceed 7″ inches…
Total Car Width : Not to exceed 2-3/4″ inches…
Total Car Weight : Not to exceed 143.0 grams or under on a 1/10th scale...
The main body structure must be made of wood. Additional materials may be added as long as they meet the rules.
4 Axles & Wheels must be installed to the side of the car body directly across from one another / No more than a 10 degree angle
Track Center Rail Height : 1/4″ inch ( 7mm ) *
Track Center Rail Width : 1 5/8″ inches (4.2 cm) *
* Wheels must clear the outside to outside center rail width measurement
Axles
a. Nail type axles but not limited to those found in the Official BSA kit are to be used.
b. Modifications to the Axles are allowed that include straightening, sanding, polishing, canting, grooving, beveling & tapering of axle head as long as the Diameter of the Axle is not reduced the Diameter may not be less than .084 inches (2.13mm).
c. Axles can be mounted by drilling Axle holes or inserted into the slots on car.
Wheels
Official BSA (new and old, any color)
a. May be CnCed, lathed, polished and/or sanded to true the edge of tread, surface and circumference
b. The tread / contact surface must remain flat and parallel to the bore as humanly possible
c. No Angling, Reshaping, Canting, Round Crowning, Tapering, H-ing, V-ing, Dishing, the outside of the wheels and/or tread surface
d. All markings, with exception of fluting/detents around the circumference of the wheel, must remain on the inside and outside of the wheel
e. Lettering on the inside and outside of the wheels must remain visible. If not visible, race officials will remove wheel(s).
f. 7.50mm Minimum Tread Width
g. No removing or reducing the letters or spokes or drilling additional holes.
h. Each wheel must be attached by an axle, no guide pins allowed.
i. Wheels may not be reversed, they must run in standard orientation.
j. Non-dominate/lifted wheel must meet wheel specifications.
The following Modifications are not allowed
a. Starting or finish line devices
b. Electronic or lighting devices
c. Glass or extremely fragile parts
d. Paint that is wet, smudges or extremely sticky
e. Bearings and/or Bushings
f. Sharp objects, sandpaper or abrasives on the bottom of car (We do not want any damage to the rubber stopping pads)
g. Axles and/or wheels attached to any device that mechanically or alters rotation and spin
h. Any part of the car to go beyond the starting peg
j. Propellants
